Prof. Schuler is a member of the American Schools of Oriental Research, the American Institute of Archaeology, and the Society of Biblical Literature. |

Kristina Neumann -- graduate of Concordia Wisconsin, winner of a BAR Dig scholarship, and graduate student in ancient history at the University of Cincinnati will be the small finds registrar for 2009. |

Jim Appelbaum -- has worked at Emeritis Specialties for 39 years. as a senior lab tech. He is an Elder at Timothy Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO and is taking his third trip to Israel as a volunteer. |

Dr. Arny Friend -- retired meteorologist for the USAF, farms in southern Illinois. Arny is back for a fifth season. The "Arny Net" traces its origin to his inspiration. He will serve as our surveyor and work with ground penetrating radar. . |

Glenn Borchers, MS -- is a retired soil scientist, NRCS USDA. Glenn also returns for a seventh season. His expertise in soils and his knack for recovering spectacular finds make him a valued member of the team. Glenn will handle delicate excavation work. |

Linda Miller -- mother of three with an M.A. in Theology from Concordia Irvine. Linda works as a Director of Christian Education and teaches for the local school district. In the near future she hopes to pursue her doctorate in Early Christian Studies 2009 will be her fifth season. |

Cameron Heiliger -- Graduated from CSP in 2007 with a BA in Elementary Ed. and History. Took the great Leap into marriage on February 29, 2008. Have been working as the Program Manager at the Boys and Girls Club in Billings, MT since Jan. 2008. Will be moving to Turkey this autumn (late August). This is my second season (first was 2006)... and this time I definitely get to stay the whole time!! |

Anna Fink -- I grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin right next to Lake Michigan. I am 18 and a freshman. I plan to major in theatre, and hopefully go on to do costume design. |

John Klinkhammer -- I am a retired forester and good friends with Darryl Schmidt. After thirty plus years on a public works crew I have an unfortunate familiarity with shovels, picks and chainsaws. Does the tree really have to go? Can I? |

Hannah Appelbaum -- I am seventeen years old and a junior at Lutheran High School North in Saint Louis, Missouri. I have no idea where I am going to college, haha. Anyway, I've been begging my father to take me to Israel since I first heard he was going in 2006, and now my dreams are finally going to be realized. This'll be my first trip overseas, and hopefully not my last. Yeah, I'm pretty pumped. |

Carl Roessler -- I am 21 and a college junior at Concordia St. Paul, and am pursuing a history major. I have wanted to go on an Archeological expedition since I was a young child and saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (also I like historical activities). During the summer I work for a crop research company as well as a PCA for a blind friend of mine. |

I'm also very excited about this trip and am looking forward to walking again where our Lord walked...that is after we get done playing in the dirt. :) |

I am currently working at Walgreens and Fratellos while searching the job market for a more permanent position. I have been overseas twice to Rome but never to Israel and am looking forward to the opportunity to create a memorable experience while learning more about my surroundings. |

Harrison Parker--I have one year left at Concordia Irvine where I'm double-majoring in Biblical Languages and Theological Studies in the Pre-Seminary Program. I plan to be a pastor and enjoy spending time being with my fiancee and talking about anything. I have never been out of the States and am looking forward to following in my fellow Harrison's footsteps by brandishing a fedora and digging old things up. |

Karina Sweeney -- Karina is currently a junior at Concordia University in wonderful California. She is a double major in English and Theology in the Secondary Education program. Her goal is to be a high school theology teacher, and her passion for kids knows no bounds. In her spare time, if she has any, she enjoys volunteering and working at her job (Christian Bookstore). She is excited for this trip and what God is going to do through it. |

Eric Clausen -- Eric Clausen is a Junior at Concordia Irvine and originally from Boise, Idaho. He is majoring in History and minoring in Biblical Languages. He was worked for the USFS on fire crews in the past, and is looking forward to some hard work. This will be his first time in the Holy Land, and he hopes he finds an Indiana Jones hat in time. |
