dundundun...another day bites the dust

Today was a day different than the ones before it. It started with Dr. Schuler asking everyone [except for the people putting up their tent that fell down] to help get rid of weeds from the site to the Demascus so that it can be completely cleared. That didn't take too long. But then when I went back to my square, I got moved for the day. Dr. Chambers [my area superviser] is going to be gone for tomorrow and so Kristina came so that she can take over as area superviser for the day. It was kind of weird switching, because I had spent time on that square and knew what we were looking for and what was expected. But in my square for the day, one line of stones was confirmed to be a wall and another as well...but it's on the edge, so it's kind of hard to tell. I found a few animal bones [some fairly large], including part of a jaw. Dr. Anders believes it to be a cow. But since Kristina found part of what they believe to be a bridle yesterday, some want to believe it to be horse bones. It was interesting working with another group and seeing how they've setting up working through things. It was differently different than what I've gotten used to the last couple days, but I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing. One of the best parts of the day though, was Cameron's impression of Horatio from CSI:Miami. None of the group really cares for the character, and it was great. I wish there was a way to show it...but you'll just have to take my word on it. I guess back on my typical square, they found that the diagonal wall was floating on dirt, so that means it was a later addition and will be removed. But it was interesting to hear that the column bases that are there, aren't from the church originally. The people who built the church used what was already there to establish the outer wall. It's really exciting to be past just digging at the top of the ground, and to be actually looking for things now. And to be putting pieces together. I guess the ironic thing is, that we should find what one would expect to find digging into dirt...stones.

Tomorrow after digging, we leave for Jerusalem.

But for now...that's all folks!
