Prof. Dr. Mark Schuler -- is the coordinator of the Northeast Church project and a professor of theology and Greek at Concordia University, Saint Paul, Minnesota. Prof. Schuler is a member of the American Schools of Oriental Research, the American Institute of Archaeology, and the Society of Biblical Literature, for which he serves as the coordinator of the Upper Midwest Region.
   
Kristina Neumann -- 2005 research assistant for the Northeast Church Project, graduate of Concordia Mequon, winner of the Biblical Archaeology Review Scholarship, graduate student at the University of Cincinnati, will be the small finds registrar for the dig.
   
Andrea Chandler -- is a senior at Concordia Saint Paul in art education and  will serve as the excavation architect and surveyor.  It will be her third season! Scary!  Why do you think the first tropical storm of 2007 is named "Andrea"?
   
Linda Miller -- mother of three with an M.A. in Theology from Concordia Irvine. Linda works as a Director of Christian Education and teaches for the local school district.  2007 is her third season. Linda will help supervise the excavation of the south chambers.
   
Jim Rogers -- a pastor from St. Louis who returns to the excavation team for a fifth season.  Jim prides himself in his ability to excavate floors.  Jim will supervise the east side probes.
   
Dr. Arny Friend -- retired meteorologist for the USAF, farms in southern Illinois.  Arny is back for a third season.  The "Arny Net" traces its origin to his inspiration.
   
Glenn Borchers, MS -- is a retired soil scientist, NRCS USDA.  Glenn also returns for a fifth season.  His expertise in soils and his knack for recovering spectacular finds make him a valued member of the team.  Glenn will handle delicate excavation work.
   
Susan Lestico -- returning excavator and graduate student in archaeology at Trinity Deerfield.  Susan will supervise conservation work on the mosaics.
   
Jess Tewes -- basketball superstar and art student from Concordia Saint Paul.  Jess is an "illustrator in training."
   
Matt Hewitt -- theology major (with an emphasis in archaeology) from Concordia Saint Paul.
   
Tamera Nelson -- adult student at Concordia Saint Paul, out for an adventure.
   
Jon Bohlinger -- theology student at Concordia Saint Paul and open source guru for the IT department.
   
Kevin Fitzgerald -- Matt's close friend and a student from Concordia Seward.
   
Rachel Hedberg -- representing another Concordia ... the one in Chicago.
   
Bob Gehrke -- pastor at South Shore Trinity Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, friend of Concordia Saint Paul, joining the dig after a tour.
   
Frederick Shade -- Recently retired flautist from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and tutor at The University of Melbourne. He still teaches and performs at other institutions. Has had a life long interest in history and archaeology. This is his first dig! Check out his web site.
   
Jackie Allen -- mother of four, long-time friend of Linda Miller, operator at a nuclear power plant, first season.
   
Janet Shade -- Studying a Bachelor of Archaeology at La Tribe Uni, Melbourne, and a Diploma of Laboratory Technology. Previously completed courses in IT and Forensic Science. Avid reader of archaeology magazines when I can get them off Dad. This is my first dig and I can't wait.
   
Jacob LaCroix -- Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission at Concordia Saint Paul and Transfer Admission Counselor, first-time volunteer
   
Laura Seefeld -- graduated from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH with a bachelor's in English with a concentration in writing and double minors in theology and human life studies, lives in Gaming, Austria where she works for the Language and Catechetical Institute.
   
Lynn Khadija Smith -- veteran of work in Jordan, looking forward to returning to the field.
   
Rebecca LaCroix -- Call her Becky, Jacob's mom; looking forward to meeting everyone.
   

Other Excavators

Prof. Dr. Arthur Segal -- from the Zinman Institute of Archaeology at the University of Haifa and director of the Hippos excavations.  Arthur has assembled an international team for what is now the largest such ongoing excavation in Israel.
   
Michael Eisenberg -- is Arthur's assistant at the Zinman Institute of Archaeology.  Michael coordinates the operations and publications of the excavation and also supervises some of the teams from the University of Haifa.
   
Dr. Jolanta Mlynarczyk -- from Polish Academy of Science, Warsaw. Jolanta co-directs the excavation of the Northwest church and is the ceramics expert for the entire excavation 
   
Dr. Mariusz Burdajewicz -- from the National Museum, Warsaw.  Mariusz co-directs work on the Northwest church with Jolanta and is a skilled archaeological illustrator.
