Dr. Mark Schuler -- is the coordinator of the Northeast Church project and a professor of theology and Greek at Concordia University, Saint Paul, Minnesota. Prof. Schuler is a member of the American Schools of Oriental Research, the American Institute of Archaeology, and the Society of Biblical Literature, for which he serves as the coordinator of the Upper Midwest Region.
   
Dr. Rhoda Schuler -- is a deaconess of the Lutheran church, a church historian and adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas.  Rhoda handles logistical matters of the 2006 season (aka Regina Logistica).
   
Andrea Chandler -- is a senior at Concordia Saint Paul in art education and  will serve as the excavation architect.
   
Marc Hequet -- is a journalist and return excavator. Marc wrote most of the background material and daily content for the Virtual Dig 1. Marc is a journalist, a stringer for Time magazine, former Missouri Synod Lutheran church president and Sunday school teacher and youth-group volunteer. He likes archaeology and history. And he has dug for the past four seasons at Hippos.
   
Nancy Endicott -- is a mother of three from Wayne, NE, and second year volunteer for this year's dig in Hippos. Nancy will lead the restoration of the nave mosaic.
   
Rachel Roeske -- an archaeology major at Concordia Ann Arbor, has dug in native North American lithics on the east coast right outside of Washington, DC. Rachael returns to supervise the excavation of the south street.
   
Linda Miller -- mother of three, recently completed an M.A. in Theology at Concordia Irvine. Linda will help supervise the excavation of the south chambers.
   
Jim Rogers -- a pastor from St. Louis who returns to the excavation team for a fourth season.  Jim prides himself in his ability to excavate floors.  Jim will be a square supervisor.
   
Dr. Arny Friend -- retired meteorologist for the USAF, farms in southern Illinois.  Arny is back for a second season.
   
Darryl Schmidt -- retired cop living in Missouri, arm chair archaeologist.  Guess where this photo was taken?
   
Irene Abrams -- has been dreaming of the opportunity to be an archaeological volunteer for over a year.
   
Glenn Borchers, MS -- is a retired soil scientist, NRCS USDA.  Glenn also returns for a fourth season.  His expertise in soils and his knack for recovering spectacular finds make him a valued member of the team.  He will head up the work on the masonry tomb.
   
Cameron Heiliger -- was recently re-elected as president of the student body at Concordia Saint Paul and is a history major.
   
Stephanie Randolph -- just graduated from Concordia Saint Paul, will be the small finds registrar, heading to graduate school at Luther Seminary.
   
Kody Dougan -- musician and student in the Director of Christian Education program at Concordia Saint Paul.
   
Jessica Meyer -- theology major at Concordia Saint Paul, excavation surveyor, responsible for KAP (ask her about it) and 3D modeling.
   
Amanda Bundy -- pre-deaconess student at Concordia Saint Paul, excavation photographer.
   
Kristina Neumann -- 2005 research assistant for the Northeast Church Project, history major at Concordia Mequon, winner of the Biblical Archaeology Review Scholarship, will supervise the excavation of cistern D in the south vaulted chamber.
   
Tabitha Cook -- studies history at Concordia Mequon and is a first-time volunteer.
   
Dr. Susan Pratt -- is associate professor of English at Concordia Saint Paul. Spouse of Dr. Jay Anders.
   
Jay Anders, MD -- is chief medical officer for InteGreat Concepts, Inc. and will assist with work on the masonry tomb. Spouse of Dr. Susan Pratt.
   
Dr. Stephen Chambers -- is Dean of Student Life and assistant professor of exegetical theology at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton.  Dr. Chambers will supervise excavations near the north gate of the church complex.
   
Daniel Barr -- seminary student from Concordia Edmonton and first-time volunteer
   
Clinton Magnus -- seminary student from Concordia Edmonton and first-time volunteer.  Clint and Joyce will assist Nancy on the nave mosaic project.
   
Joyce Magnus -- spouse of Clint Magnus. Clint and Joyce will assist Nancy on the nave mosaic project.
   
Dr. Robert Holst -- is president of Concordia University Saint Paul and was one of Dr. Schuler's Greek professors.
   
Dr. Michael Patella, OSB -- is director of Study Abroad Programs and associate professor of theology at St. John's University, Collegeville.  He is also chair of The Committee on Illumination and Text for the Saint John’s Bible.
   
Brian Andrew -- is General Counsel for TLC Vision Corporation in St. Louis.
   
Bill Meyer -- is a pastor from Connecticut and was talked into this adventure by Jim Rogers.
   
Jim Appelbaum -- retired and first-time volunteer.

Other Excavators

Prof. Arthur Segal -- from the Zinman Institute of Archaeology at the University of Haifa and director of the Hippos excavations.  Arthur has assembled an international team for what is now the largest such ongoing excavation in Israel.
   
Michael Eisenberg -- is Arthur's assistant at the Zinman Institute of Archaeology.  Michael coordinates the operations and publications of the excavation and also supervises some of the teams from the University of Haifa.
   
Dr. Jolanta Mlynarczyk -- from Polish Academy of Science, Warsaw. Jolanta co-directs the excavation of the Northwest church and is the ceramics expert for the entire excavation 
   
Dr. Mariusz Burdajewicz -- from the National Museum, Warsaw.  Mariusz co-directs work on the Northwest church with Jolanta and is a skilled archaeological illustrator.
